In the UK, 5G coverage is available in over 140 towns and cities. Further locations are due to get 5G in 2020. Find out when 5G networks will launch in your area.

The introduction of 5G mobile networks is rapidly gaining pace, with 5G coverage now available in 141 UK towns and cities. More than 20 other locations have a confirmed launch date for 5G and further locations are expected to be announced very soon.

In this article, we’ll help you to keep track of where 5G coverage is available and which 5G mobile networks you’re able to use in each area. We’re monitoring the latest 5G announcements from EE, O2, Three and Vodafone in order to keep this guide up-to-date for your town or city.

If you’re living in a 5G coverage area and would like a 5G-ready price plan, see our guide to 5G SIM-only deals. At the time of writing, you can get a 5G price plan from £5/month. This will also work on 3G & 4G networks until 5G coverage finally launches in your area.

  • Vodafone

In the UK, there are four network coverage providers: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Each of the network coverage providers is currently going through the process of rolling out a 5G mobile service. This will deliver greater network capacity, lower latency and faster download speeds.

The following table gives a summary of the key announcements so far as to which towns and cities you’ll be able to use 5G coverage in:

  • VOXI offers 5G coverage using the Vodafone network. You’ll need to be using their endless data plan to get access to 5G.

5G Coverage In Major Towns & Cities

Unsurprising, it’s the UK’s largest towns and cities that are getting 5G coverage before the rest of the country.

At the time of writing, all 15 of the UK’s largest towns and cities have a 5G signal available. However, due to the staggered roll-out of 5G, different 5G mobile networks may be available in each city. This is summarised in the table below:

London

Unsurprisingly, London has been the epicentre of the UK’s 5G coverage roll out.

All four mobile networks offer 5G coverage in London. However, coverage across the city can still be patchy in some places so it’s worth double-checking this for the areas where you live and work. You can do this on the EE, O2, Three and Vodafone websites.

    • Hi Jason,
Sadly, I haven’t heard any news just yet regarding 5G on EE in Doncaster and Scunthorpe. Do keep a close eye for updates on this page, however – I’ll be sure to add it as soon as they make an announcement.

    • Hi Rob,
Sadly, I haven’t heard anything yet about Vodafone 5G in Sheffield, though do watch this space in case things change soon! I believe the other major networks like EE, O2 and Three do have some 5G coverage in Sheffield, so it might be worth having a look at them as well to see if they’re available where you live.
