Best O2 SIM Only Deals

If you’re looking for a super-cheap O2 SIM-only deal, there are currently some special offers available that you won’t find if you go directly to their website.

At present, you can get 40GB data for £8 per month, and 60GB data for £9.99 per month on these exclusive O2 deals:

Both of these deals come with the following features included:

  • 12-month contract. Unlike with most of the regular SIM-only plans on O2’s website, there’s just a 12-month commitment as opposed to a 24-month commitment on these deals. That gives you more flexibility, as you can get a lower price without the need to sign up for two years.
  • 4G & 5G coverage, with the fastest available speeds. You’ll get access to O2’s 4G & 5G network across the UK, without speed restrictions. This is a benefit when compared to the Vodafone Basics plans (which are restricted to 4G) and some of EE’s cheaper SIM-only deals (which are limited to either 10Mbps or 100Mbps).
  • Roam at no extra cost in the EU (up to 25GB per month). O2 is the only major mobile network to include EU roaming at no extra cost on all of their SIM-only plans. You’ll be able to use your inclusive minutes, texts, and data (up to 25GB per month) when you travel to the 48 destinations in O2’s Europe Zone.
  • Access to the O2 Priority app. Within this, you’ll be able to access exclusive pre-sale tickets for thousands of gigs and events across the UK. These are available up to 48 hours before general release. In addition, there are special offers and discounts available in the app (e.g. for high-street restaurants, cinemas, bars, and more). Some of their most popular deals have been withdrawn over the past year (e.g. the free coffee and sausage roll from Greggs), but there can still be some good savings to be had.
  • If you’re a Virgin Media customer, you’ll get double data and the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone. You’re eligible for Volt customer benefits if you’re on both Virgin Media and O2. This means you’ll be able to double the data on your O2 SIM card (e.g. you’ll get 80GB data per month, instead of 40GB). You’ll also get the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone add-on, which allows you to roam at no extra cost in a total of 75 worldwide destinations (including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and more). You’ll also get a speed boost to your Virgin Media broadband, plus up to three WiFi Pods at no extra cost to improve the WiFi signal in your home.

Because these exclusive deals are cheaper than O2’s regular SIM-only plans, you won’t get an O2 Extra included with them (most of their Classic plans come with 3 months of Disney+, Amazon Prime, or another Extra of your choice). In addition, the exclusive deals aren’t compatible with any other offer (e.g. multisave or staff discounts).

Other O2 SIM Only Plans

If you’re shopping on the main O2 website, there are three different types of SIM-only plan that you’re able to choose from:

  • Classic: These are O2’s standard SIM-only plans, with inclusive EU roaming (up to 25GB data per month), and 3 months of an O2 Extra included (such as Disney+ or Amazon Prime).
  • Plus: These Plus plans come with inclusive roaming in 75 worldwide destinations, consisting of their Europe Zone and the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone. You’ll also get 6 months of a chosen O2 Extra (such as Disney+ or Amazon Prime).
  • Ultimate: This is O2’s flagship tariff, with inclusive roaming in 123 worldwide destinations (see the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone Ultimate destinations). You’ll also get an O2 Extra included for the entire length of your plan.

The following table shows the best value SIM-only plans, that are currently available on the main O2 website:

Because they’re standard plans, you’ll be able to combine them with other offers from O2. For instance, there’s a Multisave discount that will give you 20% off if you’re adding it as an additional line to your O2 Pay Monthly account.

One thing to bear in mind on all of O2’s SIM-only deals is their annual price rise, which takes place in April each year. Each April, the price of your plan will increase by the rate of RPI inflation, plus 3.9%. At the time of writing, RPI inflation is hovering at around 3%. For this reason, as a rough guide, you can expect an approximate increase of around 7% on your monthly bill in April.

Keeping Your Phone Number

If you’re switching to O2 from another UK mobile network, it’s a straightforward process to keep your current phone number.

To do so, start by getting a PAC Code from your current mobile network. You can get one through your mobile network’s website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075. A PAC Code will be sent to you free of charge within 60 seconds of your request.

Once you have the PAC Code from your old network, order your SIM card from the O2 website. You can either give them the PAC Code when you sign up, or you do it later on through a form on their website. It normally takes one working day to transfer your phone number to O2.

For a step-by-step guide on how to move your phone number to O2, please select your current mobile network from the drop down menu below:
