The good news is that giffgaff’s airtime plans are totally separate from your handset payment plan. This means, for instance, there’s no need to stay with giffgaff for your SIM, even if you’re still paying for your handset through Klarna. In addition, you can choose to pay off your handset early without affecting your airtime plan.
All of giffgaff’s mobile plans come with 4G & 5G coverage from the O2 network. You’ll also get inclusive EU roaming (up to 5GB per month).
Refurbished Mobile Phones
If you’d like to make your budget go further, you can choose from a wide range of refurbished phones on giffgaff. This includes Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxy devices.
According to ADEME (the French Environmental and Energy Management Agency), buying a refurbished smartphone creates 89% less e-waste than buying a brand new smartphone, so you’ll also be helping the environment at the same time.
All of giffgaff’s refurbished phones come with a minimum 12-month warranty, along with at least 80% battery health. To give you refurbished peace of mind, all of the devices will undergo a 30-point health check before sale, and all of the devices are graded by condition (good, very good, excellent or ‘like new’). You’ll therefore know exactly what you’re getting before you buy. There’s also 21 days to change your mind from the date of delivery, in case you’re not happy with it for any reason.
giffgaff Recycle
If you’re upgrading to a new smartphone, you can sell your old one to giffgaff recycle. You can put any proceeds from your old phone towards the cost of your new mobile phone, towards the cost of your giffgaff plan, or towards anything else you like. You’ll also be helping the environment by making sure your old phone is put to good use.
To get an instant quote for the value of your old mobile phone, enter the model number or IMEI on the giffgaff recycle website.
Keeping Your Phone Number
It’s easy keeping your current phone number when you switch to giffgaff.
Start by ordering your new mobile phone from giffgaff’s website. Once you’ve done that, you can ask your current mobile network to provide you with a PAC Code. This is available through your mobile network’s website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075.
In most cases, you’ll get your mobile phone and SIM card delivered on the next working day, as long as it’s currently in stock. Once you’ve activated it, you’ll be able to submit your PAC Code online through a form on giffgaff’s website. This will schedule the transfer of your phone number (normally for the next working day, as long you submit it before 3pm).
