Sky Entertainment Package: What Sky TV Channels Do You Get?

In the UK, customers taking Sky TV on the Sky Stream box or the Sky Glass TV can now choose between two base TV plans.

With the cheaper £15 Essential TV plan, you’ll get 85 channels. Meanwhile, the £22 Ultimate TV plan (previously known as Sky Entertainment & Netflix) comes with about 130 channels. Both plans come with Netflix and discovery+ included.

In this article, we’ll look at the TV packages for Sky Stream and Sky Glass, including the Sky Entertainment plan. We’ll look at the channels included on it, as well as what you’re able to watch through their on-demand service. We’ll then look at the best Sky TV deals with Sky Entertainment & Netflix included.

Sky Entertainment Channels

If you’re taking a Sky Stream box or a Sky Glass TV, there’s now a choice of two different television plans:

• Essential TV is available for £15 per month and comes with about 85 channels, including Sky Atlantic. You’ll also get Netflix and discovery+ included.
• Ultimate TV (previously known as Sky Entertainment) is available for £22 per month. It comes with around 130 channels, including Sky’s entertainment channels, as well as National Geographic and Comedy Central. You’ll also get everything that included on Essential TV.

If you want access to all 16 of Sky’s own-brand entertainment channels, you’ll need to choose their Ultimate TV (Sky Entertainment) plan. This comes with Sky Atlantic for the top US dramas, along with Sky Witness, Sky Showcase, Sky Max, and more. The Essential TV plan only comes with Sky Atlantic.

The following table shows a list of the live television channels that you’ll get included on your Sky Stream or Sky Glass TV. The channels denoted with are only available if you have the Ultimate TV plan (also known as Sky Entertainment):

Whichever plan you choose (Essential TV or Ultimate TV), there are optional add-ons available such as Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, TNT Sports, and Sky Kids. These add-on packs give you extra channels on top of your Sky Entertainment channels, either on an 24-month contract or on a 31-day rolling basis.

For Ultra HD (4K) viewing, there’s an optional Ultra HD & Dolby Atmos add-on. This will upgrade your viewing experience to 4K quality when you’re watching selected shows, documentaries, sports and movies. It applies to the Sky Entertainment, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports channels. Separate to this, you can upgrade your Netflix subscription to the Premium package for Ultra HD viewing.

There’s also an optional Ad Skipping pack and Whole Home add-on available for Sky Stream and Sky Glass.

How many channels does the Sky Entertainment package include?

According to Sky, there are “more than 150 live TV channels” available on the Sky Entertainment plan. However, a figure of 130 channels is probably more realistic for most customers.

In recent months, there has been a slight reduction in the total number of channels in the Sky Entertainment package. This is due to the closure of multiple channels such as TalkTV, E! Entertainment, 4Music, and The Box. As a result, there are now 130 individual channels available to customers with the Sky Entertainment (Ultimate TV) package in England (as of December 2024). However, there are another 5 channels available to customers in Northern Ireland, and more than 16 different regional variations of BBC One. If these extra channels are also taken into account, it can be argued there are “more than 150 channels” available.

Sky Entertainment & Netflix Streaming

Alongside the live TV channels, you’ll get access to more than 30,000 shows to stream on-demand, whenever you like. This comes from three different places:

• Sky Box Sets. You’ll get access to the Sky Box Sets service. This allows you to binge watch entire series from across Sky’s television channels, including the latest US dramas from Sky Atlantic and Sky Max. You’ll also be able to stream exclusive Sky Original shows. See the latest shows and highlights on streaming.
• Netflix. There’s a Netflix ‘Standard with Ads’ membership included, giving you access to Netflix’s entire catalogue of shows and movies to stream on-demand. You’ll be able to stream in full HD quality as standard.
• Discovery+. You’ll get discovery+ Standard included at no extra cost with your Sky Entertainment package. This gives you access to exclusive box sets, documentaries, reality TV shows and sports. You won’t have access to the TNT Sports channels, unless you pay for an upgrade.

Apart from that, your Sky Stream box or Sky Glass TV will give you access to a range of other apps for on-demand streaming. For instance, you’ll be able to catch-up on recent shows through BBC iPlayer, ITVX and All4. You’ll also be able to stream from a range of other services like Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, Paramount+, YouTube, and more. A separate subscription may be required to access some of these services.
