Sky TV Features

Stream over WiFi

With Sky Stream, everything is streamed over WiFi. This means there’s no need for a satellite dish or for an engineer visit. Once you’ve placed your order, your Sky Stream box will be delivered to you on the next working day. You then simply need to plug it in to your TV and connect it to your WiFi network to start watching.

You’ll need a Wi-Fi connection with a minimum download speed of 10Mbps to use Sky Stream (or 25Mbps if you’re watching in 4K Ultra HD quality). According to Sky, these download speeds are available in about 98% of UK homes.

Your Entertainment In One Place

Sky Stream is powered by Entertainment OS. This brings all of your entertainment together in one place, making it easy to find and access, regardless of which live TV channel or on-demand streaming service it’s on.

Simply tell Sky Stream what you’d like to watch and it’ll search for the content across all of your connected apps, services and channels. This means there is no need to constantly hop-in and hop-out of different apps, and to remember which channel or service each programme is on. You can also add shows and movies from different services to your playlist, and all of your recommendations will appear in one place on the home screen.

Sky Stream can be connected to a wide range of on-demand services including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All4, Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Discovery+, and more.

Inclusive Netflix, Discovery+ & More

You’ll get the following streaming services included at no extra cost with your Sky TV subscription:

  • Netflix (worth £6.99 per month): There’s a Netflix subscription included in the price of your Sky Stream service. This allows you to stream more than 7,000 shows and movies on-demand in HD, including the latest Netflix Originals.
  • Discovery+ (worth £6.99 per month): As a Sky Stream customer, you can also sign up to get a Discovery+ subscription at no extra cost. This gives you access to exclusive box sets, eye-opening documentaries, reality TV shows and sports.
  • Peacock (exclusive to Sky): Peacock is the American streaming TV service from NBCUniversal. It’s available at no extra cost to Sky TV customers in the UK, allowing you to stream a wide range of American TV shows such as The Office, Downton Abbey, House, Battlestar Galactica, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and more.

If you’re a Sky Cinema customer, you’ll also get Paramount+ at no extra cost (worth £6.99 per month). This gives you access to a mountain of entertainment including Paramount+ originals like Yellowstone and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Playlists & Recommendations

On Sky Stream, you can create a playlist of your favourite shows and movies, along with other things you’d like to watch on TV. These playlists can incorporate live TV content through a cloud-based recording, as well as on-demand content from across your connected apps and services.

Your personalised recommendations on Sky Stream are taken from across your live TV channels, as well as from the apps and services connected to your Sky Stream box. This makes it easy to discover new things to watch, without the need to separately go in to different apps to see your recommendations.

Smart Search

The Smart Search feature on Sky Stream works across all of your live TV channels and on-demand streaming TV services.

With Smart Search, you can simply say the name of the show you’d like to watch, a genre, or a specific actor from the show. It will then search across all of your connected channels and apps, allowing you to find the show wherever it is.

Flexible Plans

You can choose between an 18-month contract and a 31-day rolling contract on Sky Stream. Typically, most customers choose the 18-month plan as this gives you Sky TV for the lowest possible price. However, the 31-day option also provides good value, whilst giving you flexibility (e.g. if you’re looking to move home in the near future).

Once you’ve chosen your Sky TV plan, there are a range of add-ons available for it including Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, BT Sport, Sky Kids, and the Ultra HD & Dolby Atmos upgrade. You can add or remove these packs on a 31-day rolling basis, or discounted 18-month plans are available for Sky Cinema and Sky Sports.

If you’d like to watch Sky TV in more than one room, you can get the Sky Whole Home add-on. This is available for £12 per month on a 31-day rolling contract and includes your first Sky Stream Puck for free.

Sky Glass TV

If you’re looking to upgrade your TV viewing experience, you can get the Sky Glass TV from just £14 per month more. This is a 4K Ultra HD television with Sky Inside so there’s no need for a separate Sky Stream box if you’re using a Sky Glass TV.

One of the highlights of Sky Glass is the built-in soundbar that delivers up to 215W of Dolby Atmos surround sound. This puts you right in the middle of the action, whether you’re watching the latest movies or live sports on your TV. There’s also a high-contrast 4K Quantum Dot display and all of the same features you’ll find on the Sky Stream box.

Sky Glass is available in a choice of three different sizes: Small (43″), Medium (55″) and Large (65″). You can pay for it over 48-monthly instalments at no extra cost. When you do this, it’ll cost £14/month for the Sky Glass Small, £19/month for the Sky Glass Medium and £24/month for the Sky Glass Large.
