SIM Only Deals: By Data Allowance

2GB Data

In the UK, Three now offers an entry-level SIM card with 200 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of data for £5 per month. It's their cheapest SIM-only plan and you can get it on a 12-month contract.

A 2GB data plan should be suitable if you’re a light mobile user or if you mainly use a wi-fi connection at home or at work. It should allow you to browse the internet for around an hour every day. Alternatively, you can watch 4 hours of standard-definition video each month using your 2GB data allowance.

4GB Data

For £6 per month, you can upgrade to Three’s SIM-only deal with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 4GB of data.

In 2019, the average mobile user consumed around 3GB of data per month (up from 1.9GB per month in 2017). Therefore, a 4GB data plan should cover the average mobile user’s data consumption (but without very much leeway in the months where you might want to use a little more data).

8GB Data

If you’re looking for an 8GB data plan, Three currently offers a range of SIM cards from £7 per month. If you're looking for a special offer, you can choose their 24-month plan where you pay £5 for the first 6 months, followed by £10 per month for the remaining length of your contract.

An 8GB data plan should allow you to browse the web for around 3 hours per day or to watch around 30 minutes of standard-definition video each day. However, things like HD-quality video streaming can use up your data very quickly (e.g. just 4 hours of HD video will use up 8GB of data). For this reason, if you often stream or share HD-quality videos on your phone, you might want to choose an even larger data plan.

12GB Data

Three offers a SIM-only plan with 12GB of data for £8 per month. This is currently one of their most popular plans, giving you a decent allowance of data at a very competitive price point.

A 12GB data plan will allow you to browse the internet for around 144 hours, to stream 2,400 songs or to watch 24 hours of standard-definition video online.

30GB Data

If you’re looking for a larger allowance of data, Three offers a 30GB data plan for £10 per month. You can choose between the following plans depending the length of contract you’d like to sign up for:

Three’s 30GB data plan will allow you to browse the internet for around 360 hours per month, to stream 6,000 songs or to watch 60 hours of standard-definition video online.

100GB Data

At present, Three offers unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 100GB of data for £15/month. This is a slightly cheaper alternative to their unlimited data SIM card which costs £16/month.

If you’re considering the 100GB data plan on Three, we’d recommend choosing their unlimited data plan instead. This is because it gives you truly unlimited downloads with no need to worry about how much data you’re using every month.

Unlimited Data

At present, Three offers an unlimited data SIM card for just £16/month. This is a hidden deal which is only available when you purchase through this link (it isn’t available if you go directly to Three’s website or if you visit one of their high street stores).
