This will depend on the mobile network and the deal you choose, but it can save you a lot of time and hassle when signing up.

ASDA MobileASDA Mobile is the SIM-only mobile network from the UK’s third largest supermarket brand. It’s operated in partnership with Vodafone, who provide all of the underlying coverage on ASDA Mobile’s SIM-only deals. At present, you can get a one-month rolling SIM-only plan on ASDA Mobile from just £4/month for unlimited minutes and unlimited texts. This plan doesn’t come with any data included. However, you can upgrade to their £5/month plan which comes with 3GB data per month. There’s no contract and no credit check on ASDA Mobile’s one-month rolling SIM-only plans. This means you can easily change or cancel your plan at any time. EEIf you’re looking for a one-month rolling SIM-only plan on EE, prices currently start from £25 per month. EE’s cheapest SIM-only deals can be found in their No Frills range. When you choose a No Frills SIM card, there’s a maximum download speed of 25Mbps. You also won’t get Data Gifting or Stay Connected Data. For download speeds of up to 100Mbps, along with access to the Data Gifting and Stay Connected Data features, you can choose an EE Essential SIM card instead. At present, the Essential SIM cards start from £28 per month on a one-month rolling basis.
Unfortunately, EE’s Smart and Full Works plans are not available on a one-month rolling basis. You’ll need to choose a longer 12-month or 24-month contract from EE to get Inclusive Extras such as Netflix or TNT Sports.

giffgaffIn the UK, giffgaff offers 4G & 5G coverage from O2, with no need to sign a contract and no need for a credit check to get their deals. You can get giffgaff’s one-month rolling plans from £6 per month:
These plans are also referred to as ‘golden goodybag’ plans. To qualify, you’ll need to have your payment card details saved inside your giffgaff account. VodafoneAt present, Vodafone offers one-month rolling plans on their network from £26 per month. You can choose a Vodafone Red plan for a limited data allowance and access to 5G. Alternatively, there’s a range of Vodafone Unlimited data plans, where the maximum download speed varies based on the plan you choose.
It’s also possible to get a Vodafone Pay As You Go plan on a one-month rolling basis. This will be cheaper than a 30-day SIM-only plan but you’ll be restricted to 4G speeds.

VOXIVOXI is a low-cost sub-brand of Vodafone, offering one-month plans with no contract and no credit check required. All of VOXI’s SIM-only plans come with unlimited social media data. This means you’ll be able to use selected social media and messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter without it counting towards your download limit. Selected plans on VOXI also include unlimited music and unlimited video.

Keeping Your Phone Number
If you’re changing mobile networks, it’s a straightforward process keeping your current phone number. Simply ask your current mobile network to give you a PAC Code, by texting PAC to 65075. You can then give this to your new mobile network once you’ve signed up.

For those travelling to EU. Smarty joins mostly 3G in EU, which is slow by today’s standards. Lebara is 4G only, which is usually ok, but transfers all date through the UK. Not sure why. Lyca is 5G everywhere, but as mentioned above, you have no wifi calling and I am struggling to make my iMessage work with it.
