This £16 unlimited data SIM card from Talkmobile is an exclusive deal that’s only available through this link. If you were to go directly to the Talkmobile website, you’d currently pay £32 per month for unlimited data. In addition, you’d need to sign up on a longer 12-month contract.
Fair Use Policy
According to Talkmobile’s terms and conditions, their service “is for personal use only and cannot be used for commercial or business purposes”. Beyond that, there are no hidden ‘fair usage’ limits on how much data you’re able to use in the UK.
If you’re travelling abroad to one of 42 European destinations, you’ll be able to use the allowances from your plan at no extra cost. However, there’s a fair use limit of 5GB per month. If you use more than 5GB of data abroad in Europe during a given billing period, you’ll need to purchase a Euro Holiday Booster.
Download Speeds
There are no download speed limits on Talkmobile’s unlimited data plan. This means you should be able to get their fastest available download speeds, subject to the device you’re using and the coverage in your area. According to Vodafone, you can expect a typical download speed of 23-35Mbps on 4G, and 150-200Mbps on 5G.
In our opinion, the fact you’ll get the fastest available speeds is a major benefit of getting unlimited data from Talkmobile. If you were to buy an unlimited data plan directly from Vodafone, this would have a download speed limit of 2Mbps (on Unlimited Lite plans) or 10Mbps (on Unlimited plans). You’d need to buy an Unlimited Max plan to get the fastest available speeds.
Comparison to Alternatives
At £16 per month on a one-month rolling basis, Talkmobile is currently offering one of the cheapest and most flexible unlimited data plans in the UK.
If you’re looking for unlimited data with 5G coverage from Vodafone, Lebara Mobile’s unlimited data plan is also worth considering. On Lebara, you’ll pay £12.50 per month for the first 3 months. This is available when you use the KEN3 voucher code at checkout. This means you can save £3.50 per month, compared to on the plan from Talkmobile. However, it then increases to £25 per month after the first 3 months, making it much more expensive on an ongoing basis.
Looking further afield, it might also be worth considering Lyca Mobile’s unlimited data plan (with 5G coverage from EE) or SMARTY’s unlimited data plan (with 5G coverage from Three).

- Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive phone calls and text messages, whenever you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network. This means you can stay connected, even in places where a mobile signal isn’t available (e.g. underground).

Keeping Your Phone Number
It’s a straightforward process keeping your current phone number when you join Talkmobile.
Start by asking your current mobile network to give you a PAC Code. You can get one through your mobile network’s website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075.
Once you have the PAC Code from your old network, you can order the unlimited data plan from Talkmobile's website.
To complete the number transfer process, you’ll need to give your PAC Code to Talkmobile. You can either give them the PAC Code on the form when you sign up, or you can wait until your Talkmobile SIM card has arrived. Once you’ve given the PAC Code to Talkmobile, your phone number will normally be moved over on the next working day.

I’ve ordered 2 of these using your link. I was previously on Lebara and had my suspicions that downloads were being speed capped. The Talkmobile SIMs are seeing much higher download speeds in the same areas so this confirms what I suspected.
As you say, probably the best way to gain full speed access to the Vodafone network without paying the premium they demand if you go direct.
My only complaint would be the low inclusive roaming allowance. If this was changed to match the offering from Smarty it’d be ideal. If you’re reading this Talkmobile, please at least allow 10GB roaming!

This is a good alternative for people that don’t have a good three (smarty, ID-mobile) signal in their area. As these are similar priced for unlimited data. I appreciate the fact that they reintroduced free roaming (even though it’s only 5GB) and that Switzerland is included (not all free roaming providers include Switzerland) And this could even be used as a mobile broadband alternative.
