What is the Mega Volt Bundle?
In the UK, the Mega Volt bundle is Virgin Media’s flagship package. It’s an all-in-one plan that comes with broadband, TV and entertainment, along with a SIM card for your mobile phone and a landline with inclusive anytime calls.
You can therefore get everything you need to stay in touch with your friends and family, along with the best entertainment, together in one simple package.
M500 Fibre Broadband
The Mega Volt bundle comes with Virgin Media’s M500 fibre broadband service.
On M500 Fibre, you can get an average download speed of 516Mbps. This is more than 7 times faster than the UK’s average broadband connection. It’s ideal for busy homes with lots of connected devices. For instance, you’ll have a lot more bandwidth available for streaming, downloading large files, gaming, and working from home at the same time.
The average download speed of 516Mbps would allow you to stream ultra-HD video on up to 20 devices at the same time (in 4K quality). Alternatively, you can download a HD-quality film in around 1 minute (increasing to 5 minutes if you’re downloading an Ultra HD film).
On M500 Fibre, you’ll also get an average upload speed of 52Mbps. This is handy if you’re uploading large files (e.g. to cloud storage or if you’re sharing large files with your colleagues).
WiFi Max Guarantee
As a customer on the Mega Volt bundle, you’ll also get Virgin Media’s WiFi Max guarantee included (worth £8 per month). This is available at no extra cost, as part of their Volt customer benefits.
With the WiFi Max service, you’ll get a guaranteed download speed of at least 30Mbps in every room of your home. That’s enough for streaming ultra-HD video whichever you are at home, or for doing almost anything else you’d want to do online. You can get up to three WiFi Pods to boost the signal in your home and it uses the latest mesh technology to give you one seamless whole home WiFi network.
If you’re unable to get 30Mbps in every room of your home with three WiFi Pods installed, you’ll be able to claim a £100 one-off bill credit from Virgin Media.
Virgin TV with Sky Sports & Sky Cinema
The Mega Volt bundle comes with Virgin Media’s latest TV 360 box. This allows you to watch all of your favourite channels and on-demand content, together in one place.
There are more than 230 live TV channels included on the Mega Volt bundle, including all of the Sky Sports and Sky Cinema channels in HD. You’ll be able to pause, rewind and record live TV, with the ability to store up to 500 hours of recordings on the box.
The Virgin TV 360 box also comes with a range of apps for popular on-demand streaming and catch-up TV services. This means you’ll be able to watch BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All4, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and more on the box.
If you’re on-the-move, you’ll be able to use the Virgin TV Go app or website to watch your live TV and on-demand shows, wherever you are. This is available for iPhone, iPad, Android, PC, and Mac. It’s included in your Virgin TV service.
Netflix Standard
You’ll get the Netflix Standard plan included on the Mega Volt bundle (this normally retails for an RRP of £10.99/month).
Your inclusive Netflix Standard subscription will allow you to watch unlimited movies and TV shows from Netflix’s catalogue, including hits like Ginny & Georgia, The Witcher, Squid Game, and more. You’ll be able to watch them in full HD quality, on-demand, on any compatible device, and without any adverts.
You’ll be able to stream your Netflix shows and movies on up to two devices at the same time (for instance, you can watch on your mobile phone or tablet at the same time as on your Virgin TV 360 box). You’ll also be able to download Netflix shows for offline viewing on up to 2 devices.
Unlimited O2 Mobile SIM
The Mega Volt bundle comes with an O2 SIM card for your mobile phone. This gives you unlimited data at 5G speeds, along with unlimited UK minutes and unlimited UK texts.
As a Volt customer, you’ll also get the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone Bolt On included, allowing you to use your mobile phone at no extra cost in 75 worldwide destinations (including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand).
Your O2 SIM card will also come with 6 months of an inclusive O2 Extra. You can choose from a range of Extras including Disney+, Amazon Prime, Audible, Cafeyn, Amazon Music Unlimited, McAfee Mobile Security Plus and O2’s International Bolt On.
Alongside that, your O2 SIM card gives you access to the O2 Priority app. This gives you early access to Priority Tickets at thousands of gigs and events across the UK. There are also weekly offers, discounts and rewards in the app, along with savings at thousands of restaurants through the the Priority tastecard Club.
If your household already has other eligible O2 Pay Monthly plans, you’ll also get double data added to them as a Volt customer benefit.
Home Phone with Anytime Chatter
The Mega Volt bundle comes with Virgin Media’s home phone service. You’ll get their ‘Anytime Chatter’ plan which comes with inclusive anytime calls to both UK landlines and UK mobiles. This allows you to talk for up to 60 minutes per call without paying anything extra (after that, you can always hang up and re-dial to continue talking without extra charges).
You can keep your current home phone number when you switch to a Virgin Media landline.
Mega Volt Bundle Deals
At present, you can get Virgin’s Mega Volt Bundle for just £84.99 per month. This comes with free set-up and free installation when you order your plan online:
Service | Broadband & TV | Monthly Cost (will rise each April by RPI inflation plus 3.9%) |
|
---|---|---|---|
Mega Volt Bundle
| 1130Mbps average download 230+ channels
| £84.99 per month No upfront fee 18 month contract | See deal |
It’s a major saving against the individual prices of taking each service on its own. For instance, you’d typically pay £44.50 per month for M500 Fibre Broadband on its own, plus £10.99 per month for Netflix Standard, and at least £31 per month for unlimited data on O2. These individual parts can already cost you as much as the Mega Volt Bundle. You’d then need to account for the Virgin TV 360 service on top, along with Sky Sports and Sky Cinema in HD, and the landline with unlimited anytime calls.
Switching to Virgin Media
If you’re currently using another broadband or TV provider, it’s easy to switch your service to Virgin Media.
You should start by ordering the Mega Volt bundle online. When you do this, you’ll be given a choice of possible installation dates. Normally, a Virgin Media engineer will come around to install the service for you, unless you’ve recently been connected to the Virgin Media network in the past (in which case, you might be able to install it yourself using a QuickStart kit).
You’ll need to tell your old provider that you’re moving to Virgin Media and that you’d like to cancel the old service with them.
