On Talkmobile, you’ll now get coverage from both Vodafone and Three, giving you coverage from two networks for the price of one.
Talkmobile has always been one of the UK’s leading budget-friendly mobile networks, offering a range of SIM-only plans from just £4.95 per month. As a subsidiary of Vodafone, they give you access to Vodafone’s 4G & 5G network, for extensive coverage across the UK at a super-low price.
Following the recent merger of Vodafone and Three, Talkmobile’s coverage has quietly undergone a massive upgrade. You’ll now get access to coverage on Three, as well as getting coverage from Vodafone. It means faster speeds and connectivity in more places than before, giving you premium coverage without the need to pay a premium price.
In this article, we’ll look at Talkmobile’s expanded network coverage, and how you can get signal from two networks for the price of one. We’ll also break down the best Talkmobile deals, and show you how to keep your current phone number when you switch to their network.
Talkmobile Coverage
As a virtual network operator (MVNO), Talkmobile doesn’t run its own physical masts. Instead, they piggyback on Vodafone for coverage. This means you get the full 4G and 5G coverage from Vodafone’s network on your phone (you can check the coverage in your area on Talkmobile’s website). Wi-Fi Calling and 4G Calling are also included as standard, providing you use a compatible handset.
As of 2026, one of the most exciting mobile network infrastructure upgrades for many years is actively underway in the UK.
Following the merger between Vodafone and Three, these two giants are pooling their physical masts and spectrum to give customers an upgraded network experience. And because Talkmobile is a subsidiary of the newly merged company, their customers get front-row seats to this upgrade.
Some of the key benefits you’ll now see on your Talkmobile plan include:
- Seamless mast switching (MOCN). Vodafone and Three have integrated a new cutting-edge technology called Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN). This clever network-level solution allows your phone to seamlessly use and switch between masts that are owned by both networks. There are no settings to change and you won’t lose your connection when changing between them – it all happens invisibly in the background with no disruption.
- Expanded geographical coverage. By bringing their respective networks together, the two companies have been able to remove 16,500 square kilometres of “not spots” across the UK. This is an area that’s roughly ten times the size of London. It’s a massive benefit if you’re travelling in rural areas, or if you’re using your phone deep inside a thick-walled building.
- Faster 4G & 5G download speeds. The rollout of shared C-band spectrum (3.4-3.8GHz) across the newly merged sites offers enhanced 5G coverage and faster peak speeds. At the moment, this upgrade covers 71% of the UK’s population.
- Improved reliability in busy areas. Because the network can automatically shift you between Vodafone’s masts and Three’s masts in the background, there’s a lot more breathing room available in busy areas like sports stadiums, concert venues, and train stations. If one mast becomes overloaded, the network can dynamically move your connection over to a quieter nearby mast. This keeps your data moving when you need it.
As a Talkmobile customer, you’ll get automatic access to all of these benefits as they continue to roll out.

Keeping Your Phone Number
If you’re switching from another UK mobile network to Talkmobile, it’s a straightforward process to keep your current phone number.
Start by asking your current mobile network to give you a PAC Code. You can get one through your mobile network’s website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075.
Once you have the PAC Code from your old network, you can order your new Talkmobile SIM card online.
To complete the number transfer process, you’ll need to give the PAC Code to Talkmobile. You can either do this when you sign up online, or you can wait until your Talkmobile SIM card has arrived. Your phone number transfer will then normally take place on the next working day.
For a step-by-step guide on how to transfer your phone number to Talkmobile, please select your current mobile network from the drop-down menu below:
