In the UK, giffgaff has just revamped their line-up of goodybag plans. You’ll now get more data included on six of their existing goodybag plans. For instance, the popular £10 golden goodybag has been upgraded to give you 20GB data per month (was 15GB). giffgaff have also introduced five new goodybags, including a £6 golden goodybag with 2GB data and a £8 golden goodybag with 5GB data.
In this article, we’ll look at giffgaff’s latest goodybags (available from the 7th December 2022). We’ll also look at how you can join giffgaff to take advantage of the latest deals, and some of the benefits of joining giffgaff such as plans with no contract, no credit check and fixed UK prices until the end of 2023. Finally, we’ll look at how you can transfer your existing phone number to giffgaff.

giffgaff’s New Goodybags
giffgaff has just revamped their line-up of goodybag plans. Alongside the extra data that’s been added to six of their existing goodybags, there are also five new goodybags giving you an even greater amount of choice.
For the best value usage, we’d recommend choosing one of giffgaff’s golden goodybags. Now available from only £6 per month, these golden goodybags give you a larger amount of data when you set them to recur automatically. For instance, you can now get 2GB data for £6, 5GB data for £8 and 20GB data for £10:

If you’d like the option to manually top-up your account and to buy a goodybag from your Pay As You Go credit, you can get one of giffgaff’s regular goodybags instead. On these plans, you’ll get a smaller amount of data included. However, there’s no need to set your goodybag to recur automatically.

Always On T&Cs: Speed restrictions apply to Always On data. You’ll experience a reduced data speed of 384kbps from 8am to Midnight after 80 GB of data used on the standard £25 goodybag and after 100GB of data used on the £25 golden goodybag. You may notice that activities which require high amounts of data, like HD video streaming, will be slower.
How To Join giffgaff
The increased goodybag data allowances are available to both new and existing giffgaff members.
If you’re new to giffgaff, you can order a free SIM card to get started and to take advantage of the new goodybag plans. Once you’ve ordered your SIM card, it should normally arrive on the next working day. You’ll just need to slot it inside your mobile phone and choose your goodybag to get going.
If you’re also looking to change your mobile phone at the same time, you can buy one from the giffgaff website. When you buy your mobile phone from giffgaff, there’s the option to split up the cost over 24 months with Klarna. There’s no interest (0% APR) with this option, but a credit check from Klarna will apply.
Existing giffgaff members will also get the increased data allowance on all goodybag plans, beginning on or after the 7th December 2022.

giffgaff Features
Monthly Plans With No Contract
All of giffgaff’s SIM-only plans are offered on a one-month rolling basis, with no contract and no credit check required. You’ll just pay for one month’s usage at a time (in the same way you’d pay for Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Prime and similar services).
In addition, all of giffgaff’s plans are flexible so you can change them as you require each month (e.g. moving down to a cheaper plan to save money, or moving up to another plan when you need more data). In fact, giffgaff will even send you a personalised best plan advice email at the end of each month. This will detail how much you’ve used your phone over the past month. It will also tell you if there’s a better value plan available for your usage.
You can change or pause your plan at any time through the my giffgaff app or website.
Golden Goodybags With More Data
When you choose one of giffgaff’s golden goodybag plans, you’ll get more data included on your plan every month.
For instance, the £10 golden goodybag comes with 20GB data per month. This is an extra 5GB data per month compared to the regular £10 goodybag, which comes with 15GB data per month.
To get a golden goodybag, you’ll need to have your payment card details saved inside your giffgaff account. Your golden goodybag also needs to be set to recur automatically. This should save you time as there’s no need to manually top-up your phone and buy a plan every month. In addition, it won’t stop you from changing or pausing your plan as you’re still able to do this whenever you like.
Fixed UK Prices For 2023
As a response to the rising cost of living, giffgaff has fixed their UK prices until the end of 2023. According to giffgaff, this “applies to all Pay As You Go, goodybags, existing products and all UK rates only until 31 Dec 2023. Excludes international rates and roaming.”

4G & 5G Coverage From O2
On giffgaff, you’ll have access to 99% population coverage across the UK. This is provided by O2’s 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
In addition, if you’re using a 5G-ready phone, you’ll have access to O2’s 5G network in 750 UK towns and cities. This covers around 50% of the UK’s population.

Inclusive EU Roaming
On giffgaff, you can use your goodybag allowances at no extra cost (up to 5GB per month) when you travel to 37 European destinations. This includes popular tourist hotspots such as Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and more.
giffgaff’s inclusive European roaming has a fair use limit of 5GB data per month. For most users, this should be more than enough. According to Ofcom, the average UK mobile user consumes about 4.5GB data per month. This is equivalent to about 1GB data if you’re travelling abroad for one week. If you exceed the 5GB per month limit, you’ll pay an extra 10p/MB.
giffgaff App & Community
You can use the giffgaff app to see how much data you’ve used and also to top-up your account on the go. It will also give you access to thousands of public Wi-Fi hotspots, including when you’re travelling on the London Underground.
If you need help and support, this is available through giffgaff’s online community. According to giffgaff, the majority of questions asked on their community will get answered by other members within two minutes. For any account-specific queries (e.g. to do with your SIM card or payments), you can ask a giffgaff agent online.
Keeping Your Phone Number
It’s easy keeping your current phone number when you switch to giffgaff.
Start by ordering your new SIM card on giffgaff’s website. Once you’ve done that, you can ask your current mobile network to give you a PAC Code. This is available through your mobile network’s website or app, or when you text PAC to 65075.
Once your giffgaff SIM card has arrived through the post, you’ll be able to submit your PAC Code online through a form on giffgaff’s website. This will schedule the transfer of your phone number (normally for the next working day, as long you submit it before 3pm).
