giffgaff is offering 15GB data on their £10 golden goodybag and 30GB data on their £15 golden goodybag.
In the UK, giffgaff has increased the data allowance on many of their goodybag and golden goodybag plans.
You’ll now get 15GB data on giffgaff’s £10 golden goodybag and 30GB data on giffgaff’s £15 golden goodybag. The data allowance has also been increased on regular goodybag plans with 1GB data for £6 and 20GB data for £12.
In this article, we’ll look at the latest changes to giffgaff’s goodybag plans. We’ll start by looking at the new goodybag line-up and what you’ll get included on each plan. We’ll also look at how you can join giffgaff to take advantage of the new bundles and at the other benefits of giffgaff including flexible plans, extra data and 5G.
New giffgaff Goodybag Bundles
From the 22nd October 2021, giffgaff has increased the data allowance on many of their goodybag plans.
If you choose a 5G-ready golden goodybag plan:
- You can now get 15GB data for £10 (was 10GB). The £10 golden goodybag bundle also includes unlimited UK minutes and unlimited UK texts. You’ll get access to 5G if you have a 5G-ready phone.
- You can now get 30GB data for £15 (was 25GB). The £15 golden goodybag bundle also includes unlimited UK minutes and unlimited UK texts. You’ll also get 5G access if you have a 5G-ready phone.
If you’re a student with a university email address (ending in .ac.uk), you’ll also be able to get giffgaff’s student golden goodybag plan. This has been increased from 13GB data per month to 16GB data per month as part of the latest changes.
To get a golden goodybag plan, you’ll need to have payment card details saved inside your giffgaff account. You’ll also need to set your golden goodybag to automatically renew each month (though you still have the option to turn off renewals at any time).
- The £6 goodybag now comes with 1GB data (was 500MB). This means you’ll now get twice as much data for the same price.
- The £10 goodybag now includes 12GB data (was 8GB). This doesn’t give you as much data as on the £10 golden goodybag but you can purchase it at any time using your Pay As You Go credit.
- The £12 goodybag now includes 20GB data (was 12GB). This is a good option if you’re looking for something in between the £10 and £15 plans.
- The £15 goodybag now includes 25GB data (was 15GB). This gives you a smaller data allowance compared to the £15 golden goodybag but you can purchase it at any time from your Pay As You Go credit.
giffgaff’s regular goodybags can be purchased at any time from your Pay As You Go credit. Unlike the golden goodybags, there’s no need to set them up to automatically recur each month.
Getting a giffgaff SIM Card
If you’re not currently a member of giffgaff, you can order a free giffgaff SIM card to take advantage of the new plans.
Once you’ve ordered your giffgaff SIM card, it will normally arrive on the next working day. You can then put it inside your mobile phone to start benefiting from even more data on giffgaff’s most popular plans (there’s no need to wait until Black Friday to get the best value deals).
The following table shows the golden goodybag plans you’re able to choose from on giffgaff:
Alternatively, if you’re happy with a smaller allowance of data and access to 4G coverage, you can choose a regular goodybag plan from £6/month:
If you’re an existing giffgaff member, you’ll automatically benefit from the increased data allowance on goodybag plans purchased from the 22nd October 2021 onwards.
No Contract & No Credit Check
You can use a giffgaff SIM card inside your mobile phone without the need to sign a contract or to undergo a credit check. This is because the service works on a one-month rolling basis and you’ll only need to pay for one month’s usage at a time.
If you’re using a golden goodybag plan, you’ll need to switch on the “recurring goodybag” feature inside your giffgaff account. This will automatically renew your goodybag at the end of each month. However, you’ll still have the option to change or cancel the automatic renewal whenever you like so there’s nothing that ties you in to a contract.
As giffgaff works on a pre-paid basis, it isn’t possible to run up expected charges outside of your allowance. This makes it a good option if you’re giving a SIM card to your kids. It’s also ideal if you aren’t able or don’t want the hassle of undergoing a UK credit check (for instance, if you’re under-18 or if you’ve recently moved to the UK).
1GB Extra Data
On golden goodybags and goodybags costing £10 per month or more, you’ll get an extra 1GB of data added from your third goodybag purchase onwards.
For instance, the 1GB extra data means you’ll get 16GB of data on the £10 golden goodybag (instead of the normal 15GB per month). Similarly, you’ll get 31GB data on the £15 golden goodybag (increased from the normal 30GB per month).
The 1GB of extra data is added automatically: there’s no need for you to manually opt-in to be able to get it.
5G on Golden Goodybags
If you choose a golden goodybag plan, you’ll have access to giffgaff’s 5G network at no extra cost. This can give you download speeds that are five to ten times faster than on 4G. You’ll also benefit from more network capacity and a lower amount of latency on 5G networks.
Members with a 5G-ready phone and SIM card will be able to access 5G coverage in the following 193 UK towns & cities:

On giffgaff, you’ll have access to 99% population coverage. This is provided by O2’s 2G, 3G and 4G networks in the UK.
Before you sign up as a new giffgaff member, it’s worth double checking to make sure you can get coverage where you live. To do this, enter your postcode on giffgaff’s online coverage map:

Keeping Your Phone Number
If you’re switching from another UK network, it’s possible to bring your phone number to giffgaff.
Start by ordering your giffgaff SIM card online. Once you’ve done this, you can ask your current mobile network to give you a PAC Code. You can get one through your mobile network’s website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075.
Once you’ve received and activated your new giffgaff SIM card, you can submit your PAC code on giffgaff’s website. Once you’ve done this, your phone number will normally be transferred on the next working day.
