In particular, Lebara Mobile’s unlimited data plan is quite competitive when you take advantage of their 3 months half price offer. Using the KEN3 voucher code, you’ll be able to get it for a market-leading price of just £12.50 per month for the first 3 months. This is a special offer for November 2024.

12 Month Plans

In general, most people choose a one-month rolling plan from Lebara as this gives you maximum flexibility to change or cancel your plan at any time. However, if you’re willing to commit for 12 months, there’s a 10% discount available on all of their standard plans.

When you sign up on a 12-month plan, you’ll get the flexibility to change your plan within the first 30 days (e.g. if you find that the data allowance isn’t suitable). You’ll also get a guarantee that the price won’t increase for 12 months (though it’s worth noting that prices have never increased on Lebara’s standard 1-month rolling plans).

Lebara Mobile Features

No Credit Check

There’s no credit check on all of Lebara’s SIM-only plans, making it easy to sign up without the need to provide lots of information. You simply need to pay for your plan on a month-by-month basis, from a saved credit card, debit card or PayPal account.

Because all of Lebara’s plans work on a Pay As You Go basis, it isn’t possible to run up unexpected charges outside of your inclusive allowance. If you’d like to use your Lebara Mobile SIM card for something else (e.g. premium-rate calls), you can top-up your account with Pay As You Go credit.

No Annual Price Rise

According to Lebara Mobile, there’s no annual price rise built in to their SIM-only plans. In contrast, many other networks have an annual price rise built in to their contracts. This price rise can be as much as £1.80 per month each year, or up to 3.9% above the rate of inflation. If you’re calculating the average cost of your plan over the next few years, this can make a significant difference.

Technically speaking, because you’re signing up to Lebara on a one-month rolling plan, they can decide to increase their prices at any time (this would apply from whenever your plan next renews). However, it’s worth noting that they’ve never done this in the past. In fact, their recent changes have mostly been good for consumers (e.g. giving you more data for the same price).

4G & 5G Coverage From Vodafone

On Lebara Mobile, you’ll get 98% population coverage and 96% geographical coverage across the UK. This is powered by Vodafone’s 4G and 5G network, so you’ll get the same coverage as customers on Vodafone. You’ll also get 4G Calling and Wi-Fi Calling, as long as your handset is compatible.

One limitation is that Vodafone’s 5G Ultra service isn’t available to customers on Lebara. For most people, this shouldn’t make a significant difference, especially as 5G Ultra coverage is limited to a small number of urban areas.

If you’d like to check the coverage in your area before signing up to Lebara, you can do this by entering your postcode on Lebara’s online coverage map.

Inclusive EU, India & China Roaming

On Lebara Mobile, you’ll be able to use your plan abroad at no extra cost when you’re travelling in the EU, India and China (up to a maximum of 30GB data per month).

This is a handy benefit that can save you significant amounts of money on your trips abroad. For instance, some of the larger mobile networks charge up to £2.47 per day for using your phone in Europe. Meanwhile, it normally costs more than £6 per day to use your mobile phone in India or China.

For other destinations, Lebara Mobile typically offers some competitive roaming add-ons. For instance, there’s a £5 add-on that allows you to use your mobile phone in the USA for 8 days (with 2GB roaming data, 50 roaming minutes, and 50 roaming texts).

International Minutes

You’ll get some inclusive international minutes on all of Lebara Mobile’s SIM-only plans. This will allow you to call both landlines and mobiles in the following 52 international destinations:

  1. Australia
  2. Austria
  3. Bangladesh
  4. Belgium
  5. Brazil
  6. Bulgaria
  7. Canada

  49. Switzerland

  52. United States

Most of Lebara’s SIM-only plans come with 100 international minutes. However, some of their more expensive SIM-only plans come with 500 international minutes or unlimited international minutes.

Lebara Mobile Drawbacks

In our opinion, there are a couple of drawbacks on Lebara Mobile:

  • Some of the plans are less competitive, when the introductory offer runs out. In general, Lebara Mobile has some of the best deals in the market, especially during the introductory period where you’re paying a reduced price for your plan. However, some of their plans can be less competitive once this offer runs out. To give an example, Lebara Mobile’s unlimited data plan is just £12.50 per month for 3 month. Elsewhere, you’d be paying at least £16 per month. However, this is less competitive when it reverts to the standard price of £25 per month.
  • You’ll get the same coverage as Vodafone customers, but without VeryMe Rewards. On Lebara Mobile, you’ll get the same coverage as customers on Vodafone, often at a much lower price. However, you’re not actually a Vodafone customer so you won’t get their customer benefits like VeryMe Rewards. On the other hand, Lebara has their own ‘Lebara Rewards’ programme where you can buy discounted gift cards and other offers.
  • There’s no eSIM support, so you’ll need to wait for a physical SIM card in the post. Unfortunately, in the UK, Lebara Mobile does not currently support eSIM technology on their plans. For this reason, you’ll need to get a physical SIM card from Lebara. However, it’s normally delivered on the next working day (as long as you order before 3PM) and there’s no charge for delivery, so you shouldn’t need to wait too long.
  • Classic Pay As You Go is no longer available. In the past, it was possible to order a free Pay As You Go SIM card from Lebara and to use it without needing to top-up every month. This option is no longer available and you’ll now need to maintain an active plan to use data on your phone.

If you’re looking for an alternative to Lebara, there are other mobile networks also using Vodafone coverage. You can also get a low-cost plan from the Vodafone Basics range, which starts from £7 per month with 4G coverage on the Vodafone network.

Lebara Mobile Bundle Codes

If you have some Pay As You Go credit on your Lebara Mobile account, it’s possible to buy a bundle manually from your credit. When you do this, you’ll only get half the normal amount of data. For instance, you’ll get just 12.5GB data for £10, instead of the normal 25GB allowance. For this reason, it’s normally best to buy your plan online when you can.

To buy a plan from your Pay As You Go credit, you’ll need to text the relevant shortcode as follows:

Lebara Mobile Plan Bundle Code
£5 plan (with 2.5GB data) Text B5 to 38885
£10 plan (with 12.5GB data) Text B10 to 38885
£15 plan (with 20GB data) Text B15 to 38885
£20 plan (with 25GB data) Text B20 to 38885
£25 plan (with unlimited data) Text B25 to 38885
£30 plan (with unlimited data) Text B30 to 38885

If you don’t have an active plan on your account, you’ll pay Lebara’s standard Pay As You Go rates. These are 25p/minute and 19p/text. You’ll need an active plan to use data on your phone.

Keeping Your Phone Number

If you’re switching from another mobile network to Lebara Mobile, it’s a straightforward process keeping your current phone number.

Start by ordering your new SIM-only plan from the Lebara Mobile website. Once you’ve done that, you can request a PAC Code from your old mobile network. You can get one through their website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075.

When your new SIM card arrives in the post, you can submit the PAC Code to Lebara through this page on their website. They will schedule the transfer of your phone number (normally for the next working day) once you’ve completed the form.

  • On Lebara “free” EU roaming doesn’t really work like on other networks, or like it worked before Brexit. For example, if you have a bundle (with text messages included) and want to send a text to an EU number while being in EU you still need to pay 0.19 GBP each time. On all other networks with free EU roaming it’s actually free.
