ASDA Mobile previously offered a £10 Mega Christmas Bundle with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 12GB of 4G internet.
As a special promotion for Christmas 2017, ASDA Mobile offered the £10 Mega Christmas bundle on Pay As You Go. The bundle came with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and a massive 12GB of internet with 3G and 4G coverage from the EE network.
The 30-day Mega Christmas Bundle was available to all ASDA Mobile customers and to anyone who ordered a free ASDA Mobile SIM card before the 9th January 2018.
In this article, we’ll review ASDA’s Mega Christmas Bundle. We’ll discuss how you can take advantage of the offer and how it compares to rival bundles available on other mobile networks. We’ll also look at the coverage available on ASDA Mobile and at how you can keep an existing phone number when moving to the network.
Mega Christmas Bundle
ASDA Mobile was offering a festive £10 Mega Christmas Bundle for customers ordering a free SIM card before the 9th January 2018. The bundle includes the following:
- Unlimited calls. Including to UK mobiles and landlines.
- Unlimited texts. Including to UK mobiles and landlines.
- 12GB of 4G data. A massive 12GB of data, with 4G coverage and 4G download speeds from EE.
Customers joining ASDA Mobile will get 99% population coverage from EE, including on 2G, 3G and 4G. There are no contracts to sign or minimum-term commitments: you just need to top-up the SIM card and place it inside your mobile phone to get going.
Buying a Christmas Bundle
The Mega Christmas Bundle is no longer available to buy. Until the 9th January 2018, you could purchase it by texting FESTIVE to 2732.
ASDA Mobile continues to the offer a full line-up of Pay As You Go bundles. For instance, you can now get 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of data for £10/month on ASDA Mobile. Alternatively, if you’re a light user, you can save money by buying the £7/month bundle (this comes with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of internet).
You can also use ASDA Mobile on a traditional Pay As You Go basis for 8p/minute and 4p/text with no minimum monthly top-up. When using ASDA on traditional Pay As You Go, there’s no need to worry about credit expiry (you just need to use your SIM card at least once every 270 days to keep it active).
Comparison to Alternatives
£10 per month bundles
During its period of availability, ASDA Mobile’s £10 Mega Christmas Bundle was the clear market-leading offer at its price point. With the offer no longer available, the best value bundles at £10/month are now as follows:
Heavy Data Users
If you’re a heavy data user, rival mobile networks will typically charge at least £20/month for a comparable amount of data.
The closest replacement for ASDA’s Mega Christmas Bundle is giffgaff’s £20 goodybag. For £20/month, you’ll get unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and Always-On data from giffgaff (4G speeds available only on the first 9GB per month). Alternatively, Three also offers 3000 minutes, 3000 texts and 12GB of data on their £20/month All-in-One bundle.
Other Pay As You Go mobile networks like EE, O2 and Vodafone will typically charge you at least £30 for a similar amount of data:

Network & Coverage
2G, 3G & 4G Coverage from EE
ASDA Mobile uses EE as its network coverage provider. Therefore, customers who are using ASDA Mobile will get the exact same coverage as customers using EE.
Through their partnership with EE, ASDA Mobile currently offers 99% population coverage across the UK, including 97% coverage on EE’s high-speed 4G network.

Tethering or personal hotspot refers to the process of sharing your smartphone’s internet connection with other devices (e.g. with your laptop or tablet).
On ASDA Mobile, tethering is permitted on all Pay As You Go bundles. This includes on the £10 Mega Christmas Bundle. Because the Mega Christmas Bundle allows you to tether, you can use it for getting your other devices connected on-the-go this Christmas. For instance, you could share the mobile internet connection with another smartphone, tablet or laptop to keep your family entertained as they travel this Christmas.
Many other low-cost Pay As You Go networks prohibit the use of tethering on their network. For more information, see our in-depth guide to tethering on UK mobile networks.
With most ASDA Mobile bundles, it’s possible to use your smartphone abroad in 48 European destinations at no extra cost. The £10 Mega Christmas Bundle is specifically excluded from this offer and can only be used inside the UK. Therefore, if you’d like to use your smartphone abroad in Europe this Christmas, you’ll need to consider buying one of ASDA Mobile’s standard bundles.
Keeping Your Phone Number
If you’re switching to ASDA Mobile to take advantage of the Mega Christmas Bundle, it’s a straightforward process to keep an existing phone number from your old mobile network.
To do so, start by ordering a free SIM card from the ASDA Mobile website. Once you’ve done that, you should contact your old mobile network to ask for a PAC Code.
Once you’ve received your new SIM card in the post from ASDA Mobile, you can contact ASDA Mobile Customer Services to give them your PAC Code. You can do this by calling 2732 from your ASDA Mobile SIM card or 0800 079 2732 from any other phone.
After you provide your PAC Code to ASDA Mobile, your phone number will normally be transferred on the next working day.
