Sky TV & Broadband Features

Save Money With A Combined Bill

When you sign up to a combined TV and broadband package on Sky, you can save a significant amount of money compared to getting the two services independently.

To give an example, you’ll currently pay £19 per month for Sky Entertainment & Netflix. Meanwhile, Sky’s Superfast Broadband is available for a standalone price of £25 per month.

If you take Sky TV together with Sky’s Superfast Broadband, you’ll get both for a combined price of only £36 per month. This can save you a significant amount of money each month, as well as giving you a combined bill that covers both of your services.

Sky Q & Better Home Wi-Fi

When you sign up to one of Sky’s TV and broadband deals, you’ll receive a Sky Q box for your TV and a Sky Hub broadband router for your Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi connectivity from your hub enables a lot of clever features on Sky Q including catch-up television and on-demand streaming from apps like Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, iPlayer and more.

Although it’s possible to use Sky Q with other broadband providers as well, there’s a clever mesh wi-fi feature that’s only available to customers with both TV and broadband from Sky. It allows your Sky Q box to work closely together with your Sky Broadband Hub router to form a mesh wi-fi network through your home. This boosts the strength of the wi-fi network in your home, giving you better wi-fi performance and better wi-fi coverage through your home.

If you’re a subscriber to Sky’s Multiscreen service, you’ll also get an extra Sky Q Mini box for watching TV in another room (up to four additional boxes are also available). Each of your Sky Q Mini boxes will also boost the wi-fi network in your home, giving you better wi-fi coverage across all of your other devices.

Finally, Sky also offers an optional Wi-Fi Guarantee add-on. For an extra £5 per month, this guarantees that you’ll be able to get a download speed of at least 3Mbps in every room of your home. If required, Sky can send you additional Wi-Fi boosters or a broadband engineer can visit your home to investigate the issues. If you’re then still unable to get Wi-Fi in every room, Sky will refund the £5 per month add-on fee to you.

Speed Guarantee

If you choose a Superfast or Ultrafast broadband plan from Sky, you’ll benefit from a speed guarantee on it. This gives you a guaranteed minimum download speed on your broadband connection, with money back or the right to cancel your service without penalty if your broadband speed drops below it.

  • On Superfast Broadband, you’ll be given your minimum guaranteed download speed when you order through this page. You’ll need to provide your postcode and address to see the minimum guaranteed download speed.
  • On Ultrafast Broadband, you’ll have a minimum guaranteed download speed of 100Mbps. If the download speed to your Sky Hub router drops 100Mbps for three consecutive days, you’ll be able to claim one month’s broadband subscription fee back from Sky.
  • On Ultrafast Plus Broadband, you’ll have a minimum guaranteed download speed of 400Mbps. If the download speed to your Sky Hub router drops below the 400Mbps minimum for three consecutive days, you’ll be able to claim one month’s broadband subscription fee back from Sky.

The Speed Guarantee applies from 14 days after your broadband service has gone live. This is because it can take a little bit of time for your broadband service to reach a stable speed once it’s live.

Sky Q Box & Superfast Broadband

As a cheaper alternative to the Sky TV and broadband deals, you can get the Sky Q Box with Superfast Broadband for just £36/month.

The deal gives you a Sky Q box with more than 200 free-to-air channels, along with apps and the ability to pause, rewind and record live television. You’ll also get Superfast Broadband with an average download speed of 59Mbps and a landline with Pay As You Go calls.

You can find out more about the TV Essentials deal on Sky’s website.

Switching to Sky

If you’re currently using another broadband or TV provider, it’s easy switching your service to Sky.

Start by ordering your new TV and broadband plan online. When you order, you’ll be given the go-live date for your new TV and broadband service. An engineer visit will also be scheduled if required. In most cases, Sky will then automatically contact your old provider for you to cancel your old broadband service. However, this won’t be the case if you’re a Virgin Media customer – if so, you’ll need to contact them separately to cancel your old service.
