Whether you're joining ASDA Mobile or leaving for another network, it's a straightforward process to keep your existing phone number.

ASDA PAC CodeIf you're leaving ASDA to join another network, or if you're leaving another network in order to join ASDA, it's super easy to keep your current phone number.

All you'll need to do is to request a PAC Code. It's totally free and the entire process of transferring your phone number should normally take no longer than one working day.

For detailed instructions, please choose the option that best applies to you:

Leaving ASDA For Another Network

If you're leaving ASDA Mobile to join another mobile network, you can take your phone number with you using a PAC Code from ASDA.

There are three ways to request an ASDA PAC Code:

  1. Online: You can get a PAC Code from ASDA by logging in to the ASDA Mobile website.
  2. By Text Message: You can get an ASDA Mobile PAC Code sent to you via SMS text message. Text PAC to 65075 to receive a PAC Code from ASDA.
  3. By Phone: You can get a PAC Code by calling ASDA Mobile. To do this, call them on 2732 using your ASDA handset. Alternatively, dial 0808 006 2732 from any other phone. You'll need to call during ASDA's opening hours (Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-5.45pm, Sunday 10am-4.45pm).

It's always free to get a PAC Code from ASDA Mobile, and it's your legal entitlement to be able to recieve one.

Once you have your ASDA Mobile PAC Code, you'll need to provide it to your new mobile network operator. For detailed instructions, please select your new mobile network from the following dropdown menu:

Don’t want to keep your ASDA phone number? You can request a STAC Code from ASDA instead.

ASDA STAC Code (Leave ASDA Without Keeping Your Number)

If you’d like to leave ASDA Mobile without keeping your current phone number, you’ll need to request an ASDA STAC Code rather than a PAC Code. There are three ways to get a STAC Code from ASDA:

  1. Online: You can get a STAC Code from ASDA by logging in to the ASDA Mobile website.
  2. By Text Message: You can get an ASDA Mobile STAC Code sent to you via SMS text message. Text STAC to 75075 to receive a STAC Code from ASDA.
  3. By Phone: You can get a STAC Code by calling ASDA Mobile. Call them on 2732 using your ASDA handset. Alternatively, dial 0808 006 2732 from any other phone. You'll need to call during ASDA's opening hours (Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-5.45pm, Sunday 10am-4.45pm).

Once you’ve gotten your STAC Code, the rest of the process for joining your new mobile network remains the same. You can choose your new provider from the dropdown menu above for instructions on how to use your ASDA STAC Code.

Joining ASDA From Another Network

If you're joining ASDA Mobile from a different mobile network, you should ask your old mobile network to provide you with a PAC Code. The PAC Code will allow you to transfer your phone number to ASDA Mobile.

After getting a PAC Code from your old network, you should order your new phone or SIM card directly from ASDA's website. For more information, please select the type of tariff you're wanting to move to:

When Your New Phone Arrives...

Once your new phone or SIM card arrives from ASDA Mobile, switch it on and make sure everything's working correctly. If, for whatever reason, you need to return or change your handset or SIM card, it's best to do this before transferring your phone number.

Once you're happy to continue with the transfer, You can give the PAC Code to ASDA Mobile by calling 2732 on your ASDA Mobile handset. You can also call 0808 006 2732 from any other phone.

Once you've provided your PAC code to ASDA Mobile, your phone number transfer will normally be scheduled for the next working day (Monday to Friday only, excluding English bank holidays).

Sometimes, you’ll be given the option to provide a PAC Code at the same time as when you order your new phone or SIM card. We’d typically recommend against providing your PAC Code at this stage. Instead, waiting for the new phone or SIM card to arrive from ASDA Mobile first will allow you to make sure it’s working correctly and will make the process of cancelling or returning much easier.

Upgrading Your Plan On ASDA

If you're simply upgrading to a newer handset or tariff, it's not necessary to get an ASDA Mobile PAC Code. You can simply upgrade via ASDA Mobile's website. For more information, please select the type of ASDA price plan you're planning to move to:

    • Hi Jk,
It should normally take about one working day for your phone number to move over – you can see the table here for the expected timeline for the transfer. If it’s taking longer than expected, you should contact your new network (ASDA Mobile in this case) who should be able to give you an update on it.

  • I have not been able to top up for four days now as 2723 does not work from my phone for some unknown reason, 08000792723 also does not work from any other phones or landlines that I’ve tried.
I’m not sure if there’s a problem with the system as they are also not replying to my emails.
I have gone on to a contract yesterday with O2 but I can not get through to Asda for a pac code.
If anybody from Asda can contact me with my pac code that would be great!
    Thanks

Mandy transferred a phone number from ASDA Mobile to O2.

    • Hi Mandy,
Many thanks for your comment. Have you tried 2732 (or 0800 079 2732 from a landline)? That should be the correct phone number for ASDA Mobile.
      Hope this helps,
      Ken

  • I am absolutely disgusted with asda mobile, i called for a pac code a couple of days ago, and only because they could not sort a problem theycreated, i only phoned tesco mobile today gave them the pac code, they disconnected me about 6 which was before tesco had time to connect me over properly after i gave them the pac code i was given. My son rang me on the housephone just now, because they have already given my number to someone else before tesco have finished transferring. What the hell are they doing. Can you offer any advice please, this is going to create so much inconvenience.

Sue transferred a phone number from ASDA Mobile to Tesco Mobile.

    • Hi Sue,
I’m so sorry to hear about the problems you’ve encountered moving a phone number from ASDA Mobile to Tesco Mobile. Typically, it’s the responsibility of your new mobile network if something goes wrong during a phone number transfer. However, as I understand from your message, it was slightly different in your case that ASDA Mobile cut off your phone before the transferred occurred? If so, this isn’t the typical behaviour and as such, I wouldn’t really be able to give you any detailed suggestions. The chances are you’ll need to contact ASDA Mobile Customer Support to get this issue resolved: you can reach them on 0800 079 2732.

  • I have been attempting to obtain my pac code from Orange all morning but keep being fobbed off with the busy excuse. Is there another no. I can contact? As it happens I wish to move to asda which is also EE.

Alan scott transferred a phone number from Orange to ASDA Mobile.

  • Hi Ken,

3 weeks ago, I transferred my mobile number from Orange (Dolphin) contract to ASDA Mobile.
(both on the EE network). I had no problem securing my PAC number and the transfer seemed to go smoothly apart from the fact that I can make calls and receive texts but cannot send texts.
I left my Orange SIM card in my old mobile and my Daughter was able to send a text message on this. I have since removed that SIM card.
I have called ASDA Mobile on 3 occasions to be told that this has been a problem for many customers transferring from Orange and the technicians are working to resolve the problem. ASDA has given me extra credit for my phone as I am continually having to make calls instead of sending texts.
Can you advise me of my next step as it has been 3 weeks? I have already lodged a complaint with CISAS against Orange and am waiting for their response.

    Many thanks,
    Chris

Chris transferred a phone number from Orange to ASDA Mobile.

    • Hi Chris,
Sorry to hear about the problems you’re experiencing on ASDA Mobile. Unfortunately, I don’t have much specific advice regarding this matter – it sounds like a problem which needs to be solved by ASDA technical support. I would recommend checking two things:
      1) Verify the SMS message service centre settings on your phone – they’ll need to be correct for you to be able to send a text message.
      2) Consider using an instant messaging app (e.g. WhatsApp). I know it doesn’t solve your problem but it should allow you to stay in touch with friends whilst the problem is solved (it’s free to send messages so this is cheaper than calling).
Aside from that, I couldn’t give any more advice except to keep following it up with ASDA.
      Good luck,
      Ken

  • Two months ago I obtained a PAC code from Vodafone and passed it on to Asda mobile. The porting of my existing number did not take place as expected, and every few days Asda has been giving me excuses and saying that the tech team is working on it and it should be fixed ‘soon’. Today, almost two months after the port should have taken place, the Asda team has claimed that the PAC code was faulty, and another is required from Vodafone. Vodafone says they have ported the number (to T mobile, for some reason) and they now have nothing to do with my number and cannot issue another PAC code. No calls or texts can be received using my original number, although calls can be made. In effect, both Vodafone and Asda have washed their hands of the matter. Any ideas?

majraven transferred a phone number from Vodafone to ASDA Mobile.

    • Hi Majraven,
Sorry to hear about your problems transferring the phone number. For me, it sounds as if the problem is on ASDA Mobile’s end (Vodafone did everything they were meant to do by releasing your PAC Code). One explanation for what has happened is that both ASDA and T-Mobile use the EE network. Hence, the transfer might have messed up on the receiving network end (e.g. perhaps your number was assigned to T-Mobile rather than ASDA). It does sound as if the issue should be chased with ASDA Customer Services (as Vodafone say, the number has already left their network). Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful, and I do wish you all the best of luck in getting your number back.
