In the UK, Lyca Mobile has just added inclusive data roaming in India to all of their SIM-only plans. This makes it possible to use your mobile phone at no extra cost when you’re travelling in India.
You can get a new Lyca Mobile SIM-only plan from just £1.29 per month for 3 months. This is available on a Pay As You Go basis, with no contract and no need for a credit check.
As well as your inclusive data (which can be used in the UK, India, and the EU), you’ll get unlimited UK minutes & unlimited UK texts on your Lyca Mobile plan. There are also some international minutes included, so you can stay in touch with your friends and family abroad.

Roaming in India
Each year, there are more than 2 million trips abroad to India from the UK. Whether you’re travelling to visit your family and friends, for leisure, or to watch the cricket, it can be an expensive affair using your mobile phone whilst you’re there.
If you’re on one of the major UK mobile networks, you’ll normally need to pay at least £6 per day extra to use your mobile phone in India. This can very quickly add up to a rather large bill (e.g. you could be looking at more than £40 for roaming on a one-week trip).
The alternative option of getting a local SIM card on arrival in India can also be fraught with hassle as you’ll need to provide a lot of documentation (including your ID, proof of your UK address, and proof of your address in India). In addition, you’ll need to queue up to buy your SIM card in-person and there’s normally a wait of about 24 hours for your SIM card to be activated.
Lyca Mobile’s Free India Roaming
If you’re a Lyca Mobile UK customer, you’ll now benefit from inclusive data roaming in India on all of their plans. Simply put, this allows you to use your UK data allowance at no extra cost when you travel to India, giving you a hassle-free way to stay connected without additional costs on your trip.
It works in a similar way to Lyca Mobile’s inclusive EU roaming. On the limited data plans, you’ll be able to use up to 12GB data per month abroad in India & the EU (or up to your entire plan allowance if that’s less than 12GB per month). Meanwhile, on their unlimited data plan, you’ll be able to use up to 35GB data per month when you’re abroad in India & the EU.
One thing that’s worth noting is that you’ll only get inclusive data roaming in India. Unlike when you’re travelling in the EU, it doesn’t include the use of your minutes and texts whilst you’re there. However, you’ll still be able to call and message using your favourite apps and services such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger at no extra cost.

When you order your Lyca Mobile plan, you’ll be able to choose between an eSIM and a physical SIM card:
- Get a Lyca Mobile eSIM for instant online delivery. If you have an eSIM-compatible phone (such as the iPhone 11, the Galaxy S20, the Pixel 3, or later versions of each device), you can order a Lyca Mobile eSIM. With eSIM, you’ll simply need to scan a QR code with your phone and you’re then ready to start using your plan straight away. In most cases, it will also be possible to use the Lyca Mobile eSIM alongside your current SIM card through dual-SIM functionality.
Get a physical SIM card in the post. If you choose to get a physical SIM card, this will be sent out to you through the post. It may take up to 5 working days for the SIM card to arrive (though it will normally arrive faster than that). If you choose this option, it will work with any unlocked phone (there’s no need to have an eSIM-ready phone).
