If you’re looking for a SIM-only deal from a high-street brand, Tesco Mobile offers SIM-only deals from £7.50 per month in the UK. The deals come with 4G & 5G coverage from the O2 network, plus ‘Clubcard Price’ discounts if you’re a Tesco Clubcard member.

Clubcard Price Deals
If you’re looking for the strongest deals on Tesco Mobile, these can be found within their “Clubcard Prices” range.
To get a Clubcard Price deal, you’ll need to first sign up for a Clubcard (that’s if you don’t have one already). For most people, this shouldn’t be too much of a barrier as over 20 million UK households are estimated to have one already. Otherwise, it’s free to join and this should only take a couple of minutes.
The Clubcard price deals currently start from 12GB data for £9.50, and go up to 30GB data for £12.50 per month.
On the Clubcard Price deals, you’ll benefit from Frozen Prices so there are no mid-contract price rises for the entire length of your plan. You’ll also earn Clubcard points for your spending at Tesco Mobile (equivalent to getting 1% cashback on your Tesco Mobile spend).

If you don’t have a Tesco Clubcard, you can sign up on one of the standard SIM-only deals. It’s worth bearing in mind that you’ll normally pay a little more for these plans. There’s also an annual price rise of about 6%, which applies to these deals.

Pay As You Go
It’s also possible to use Tesco Mobile without the need for a contract. To do this, you can get Tesco’s Pay As You Go service. There are two different Pay As You Go plans to choose from:
- Rocket Pack bundles start from £7.50 per month and include an allowance of minutes, texts and mobile data.
- Triple Credit is a classic Pay As You Go plan. On this plan, there are no regular monthly charges. You’ll pay 25p per minute, 10p per text and 10p per MB. Each time you top-up your phone, you’ll get bonus credit that lasts for one month (e.g. a £20 bonus when you top-up by £10).

Anytime Upgrade Phone Deals
If you’re buying a new phone from Tesco Mobile such as the iPhone, a Samsung Galaxy, or a Google Pixel smartphone, it will come on an “Anytime Upgrade” plan. Essentially, this means your plan will be split into two parts. There’s one contract for your phone, and another one for your data plan.
If you’d like to upgrade your phone, you can do this at any time by paying off the remainder of your phone plan. You’ll then be able to buy another phone from Tesco. Similarly, you can change your data plan each month, without it affecting your phone plan.
Tesco’s Anytime Upgrade deals work in a very similar way to other offerings on the market such as EE Flex Pay, O2 Refresh, Three’s Anytime Upgrade, and Vodafone EVO.

Clubcard Benefits
If you’re a Tesco Clubcard member, there are a number of benefits that you’re able to access on Tesco Mobile:
- Access to exclusive Clubcard Price deals, with ‘frozen prices’. Many of Tesco Mobile’s best value deals are only available to Clubcard members, who’ll pay a lower price for their plan. In addition, there are no mid-contract price rises on these Clubcard Price deals, meaning the monthly price is fixed for the entire length of your plan.
- Earn Clubcard points on all of your Tesco Mobile spend. You’ll get a Clubcard point for every £1 that you spend with Tesco Mobile. It’s equivalent to getting 1% cashback (or 2% cashback if you double-up your points to use at a Clubcard Reward Partner such as restaurants or days out).
- Double data if you’re a Clubcard Plus member. If you’re a member of Tesco’s Clubcard Plus service (£7.99 per month), you’ll get double data on your Tesco Mobile plan. For instance, a 5GB data plan will be boosted to 10GB per month. You’ll also earn double Clubcard points on your Tesco Mobile spend.
4G & 5G Coverage From O2
As a Tesco Mobile customer, you’ll get access to O2’s 4G and 5G network across the UK. This gives you about 99% UK population coverage (it’s the same coverage you’d get on O2, or on any other network using O2’s coverage). Wi-Fi Calling and 4G Calling are also available on compatible devices.

No EU Roaming Fees Until 2026
On Tesco Mobile, there are no EU roaming fees until 2026. This means you’ll be able to use your Tesco Mobile plan allowances at no extra cost in the following 48 ‘Home From Home’ destinations:

It’s worth noting that Tesco Mobile had originally planned to re-introduce EU roaming fees in 2023. Since then, the date for their planned re-introduction has been pushed back a number of times, with Tesco Mobile now saying that there’ll be no EU roaming fees until 2026.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no detail about what the EU roaming fees will look like once they’re introduced, so it’s worth keeping bearing this in mind if you’re signing up for a longer contract with Tesco (e.g. a 24 month contract will easily take you past 2026).
Family Perks
If you have multiple lines on your Tesco Mobile account, each of them will be eligible for a Family Perks benefit.
For each of your lines, you’ll be able to choose between extra data, a discount on your bill, additional Tesco Clubcard points, or a discount on Tesco Mobile Protect Insurance.
You’ll be able to manage your Family Perks, along with each person’s account, in the Tesco Mobile app.
Tesco Mobile Drawbacks
In our opinion, there are a couple of drawbacks to be aware of on Tesco Mobile:
- Tesco Mobile’s deals aren’t always the cheapest. Typically, you’ll be able to beat their prices when you choose an online-only network, such as giffgaff which also offers O2 coverage. However, if you’re looking for a high-street brand with the benefit of Tesco Mobile phone stores, they do tend to be cheaper than the four major networks.
- The service can be slow in some areas. In many locations, O2’s network can be congested. This means slower download speeds and web pages taking longer to load. As Tesco Mobile uses the O2 network, you’ll also be affected by this.
- There’s no guarantee of inclusive EU roaming after 2026. According to Tesco Mobile, European roaming will be offered at no extra cost until 2026. There’s currently no information about what the EU roaming fees will look like once they’re introduced, so it’s worth bearing this in mind if you’re signing up on a longer plan. Having said that, they did originally plan to introduce charges in 2023, with the start date having been pushed back multiple times since then.
- There are no customer loyalty apps. On Tesco Mobile, you won’t have access to customer loyalty apps such as O2 Priority, VeryMe Rewards, or Three+. Occasionally, the offers available in these apps can make it worthwhile to choose one of the larger mobile networks.
Keeping Your Phone Number
If you’re switching from another UK mobile network to Tesco Mobile, it’s a straightforward process transferring your phone number.
To start off, get a PAC Code from your old mobile network. You can get one through your mobile network’s website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075. Once you’ve done that, you can order your new phone or SIM card from the Tesco Mobile website.
Once your new Tesco Mobile phone or SIM card has arrived, text PORT to 23424. Simply follow the instructions provided and your phone number will be transferred over (normally on the next working day).

It’s certainly the cheapest I can remember on Tesco Mobile, though I’m not sure if it’s ever been cheaper than that (if so, it was probably quite a long time ago)! As far as I know, the monthly price doesn’t change but it’s worth double checking with Tesco if you want to make sure 🙂

For example, on the £6 plan, you can choose a variety of perks including 50p off your bill or 50 Clubcard points. The Clubcard points is a better deal, as you can then exchange them for a £1 voucher which can be credited to your mobile account to reduce your bill.
There is also the potential for cashback by signing up via a Cashback site such as Quidco and Topcashback. Cashback is typically around £30, reducing the cost of a 12-month contract by £2.50 per month.
You can also set up a business account (without needing to provide any proof that you run a business) and get a joining bonus of £30, with further incentives when additional lines are added to the same account.
