Vodafone Pay As You Go Features
No Contract & No Credit Check
There’s no contract on Vodafone’s Pay As You Go service. This means you have lots of flexibility to change your plan as required (e.g. you can upgrade your plan, downgrade your plan or leave at any time). If required, it’s also possible to renew your plan early to get a fresh allowance of data.
As it’s a fully pre-paid product, there’s no credit check required on Vodafone Pay As You Go. In addition, it isn’t possible to run up unexpected charges by mistake as you’ll need to top-up your account with additional credit to pay for any out-of-allowance charges.
Total Rollover
On Vodafone’s Pay As You Go service, you can roll over your unused data into the following month’s allowance. Total Rollover applies to your core data allowance only – it doesn’t apply to promotional allowances such as extra data from the winter Pay As You Go offer.
To give an example, the £10 bundle normally includes 7GB of data. If you were to use just 4GB of data in one month, the remaining 3GB would rollover into the following month’s allowance. This would give you 10GB of data to use the following month (the normal 7GB data allowance, plus the 3GB of rolled over data). For the first 3 months, you’ll also get an extra 14GB of promotional data from the winter promo offer. When added to the 10GB data, this would give you a total of 24GB data to use the following month.
VeryMe Rewards
As a Vodafone Pay As You Go customer, you’ll have access to VeryMe Rewards. This is available as long as you top-up your SIM card with at least £10 of credit every 6 weeks (this includes any Pay As You Go credit that’s used to buy a Big Value Bundle).
Through the VeryMe Rewards programme, you can access weekly treats and offers from a range of brands like Costa Coffee, Vue, Candy Kittens, Thortful, and more. You’ll also get an “Eat Local by VeryMe Rewards” membership (powered by the Gourmet Society), giving you discounts and offers at independent restaurants and cafes across the UK.
Unlimited Minutes & Texts
You’ll get unlimited UK minutes and unlimited UK texts included on all of Vodafone’s Pay As You Go plans. This allows you to call and message other UK landline and mobile numbers, as much as you like.
International Roaming
On Vodafone’s Pay As You Go bundles, you’ll be able to use your minutes, texts and data in the UK, and whilst you’re roaming in Zone A destinations (the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland).
If you’re roaming in Vodafone’s Europe Zone (Zone B destinations), you’ll need to purchase an 8-day Europe Roaming Extra if you want to make any calls, send any texts, or use data when you’re there. There’s more information about this on Vodafone’s website.
Network & Coverage
2G, 3G & 4G Coverage
Vodafone offers 99% population coverage on their 2G, 3G and 4G networks in the UK.
Before you sign up for Vodafone Pay As You Go, it’s worth checking to make sure there’s coverage where you live. To do this, you can enter your postcode on Vodafone’s online coverage map:
Check Vodafone Coverage (vodafone.co.uk) →
You can expect average download speeds of 23-35Mbps on Vodafone’s 4G network. To check the speeds in your area, enter your postcode on Vodafone’s website and tap on the ‘Data speed info’ button.
5G Coverage
If you choose the £30 or £40 Big Value Bundle, you can access Vodafone’s 5G network on a 5G-ready phone.
On Vodafone’s 5G network, you can access average download speeds of around 150-200Mbps on your phone. In some cases, the download speeds can go even higher – to as much as 1,000Mbps (1Gbps). You’ll also benefit from more network capacity and a lower amount of latency when you’re connected to 5G.
Keeping Your Phone Number
It’s easy keeping your current phone number when you switch to Vodafone.
Start by asking your current mobile network to provide you with a PAC Code. You can get one through your mobile network’s website or app, or by texting PAC to 65075.
Once you’ve done that, order your new Pay As You Go SIM card from Vodafone’s website. When it arrives, you’ll be able to give the PAC Code to Vodafone through this online form. They will then schedule the transfer of your phone number (normally for the next working day).
For a step-by-step guide on transferring your phone number to Vodafone, please select your current mobile network from the dropdown menu below:
Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to transfer Pay As You Go credit from your old mobile network to Vodafone. For this reason, you should try to use it up before the number transfer takes place.
