BT offers Full Fibre 500 and Full Fibre 900 broadband with up to 12 months access to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate included.

In the UK, BT currently offers full fibre broadband on a choice of plans including Full Fibre 100, Full Fibre 500 and Full Fibre 900. Making use of a fibre optic connection all the way into your home, it gives you faster download speeds and a more reliable broadband connection. It also allows you to use up to 100 devices across your home at the same time.

As a special offer, you’ll currently get up to 12 months access to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate included when you choose the Full Fibre 500 or Full Fibre 900 plan. This gives you access to more than 100 high-quality Xbox games to play on-demand, including on your PC, console or mobile phone.

In this article, we’ll look at BT’s full fibre broadband plans and how they compare in terms of the download speeds available. We’ll also look at the features available on BT’s full fibre service and where it’s currently available.

BT Full Fibre Plans

In the UK, BT now offers full fibre broadband. Making use of a fibre optic connection all the way into your home, it gives you faster download speeds and a more reliable broadband service.

For the fastest download speeds, you can choose the Full Fibre 100, Full Fibre 500 and Full Fibre 900 plans. Alternatively, if you’re living in a property that’s enabled for full fibre, you can also get BT’s regular fibre broadband plans (such as Fibre 2) through a full fibre connection.

Download Speeds

One of the primary benefits of choosing full fibre broadband is the much faster download speeds compared to normal fibre broadband. Compared to regular fibre, Full Fibre 100 is about twice as fast. Meanwhile, Full Fibre 500 is about 7 times faster and Full Fibre 900 is about 13 times faster.

To give an example, it might take around two hours to download the latest console game on regular fibre. In contrast, this would take as little as 8 minutes if you’re using full fibre broadband. Similarly, it might take 40 minutes to download a 4K movie on normal fibre broadband. This would be reduced to just 3 minutes on full fibre broadband.

The following table shows a side-by-side comparison of the download times you might expect on BT’s full fibre plans:

Regular Fibre Full Fibre 100 Full Fibre 500 Full Fibre 900
Console Game
(50GB)
2 hours 1 hour, 10 minutes 14 minutes 8 minutes

(20GB)
40 minutes 30 minutes 6 minutes 3 minutes

(4GB)

Devices

In addition to faster download speeds, a full fibre plan will also allow you to use more devices at the same time on your home network. For instance, you could be streaming, gaming and downloading on 100 devices at the same time when using full fibre broadband.

The following table shows a side-by-side comparison of the number of devices you can expect to use at the same time on full fibre broadband:

Regular Fibre Full Fibre 100 Full Fibre 500 Full Fibre 900

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

At present, customers choosing Full Fibre 500 or Full Fibre 900 will receive up to 12 months inclusive access to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (you’ll get 6 months on Full Fibre 500 and 12 months on Full Fibre 900). This gives you access to more than 100 high-quality Xbox games to play on-demand. You’ll also get an EA Play membership, with new games being added all the time including day one releases.

If you’re not currently able to get full fibre broadband, you may still be offered one of BT’s regular fibre broadband plans. BT is currently aiming to roll out full fibre broadband to 25 million homes by the end of December 2026.

Switching to BT

If you’re currently using a different broadband provider, it’s easy switching your service to BT.

Start by ordering your new BT Broadband plan online. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be given the go-live date for your new full fibre service. An engineer visit will normally be required to install full fibre (this will normally be scheduled for around 2 weeks time).

If you’re switching from another Openreach-based provider, BT will contact your old provider for you to cancel the old service. However, if you’re a customer of Virgin Media or another provider that doesn’t use the Openreach network, you’ll need to contact them directly to cancel your old service.
