O2 Mobile Broadband Deals

Nighthawk M6 Router

If you’re looking for ultra-fast 5G mobile broadband, O2 is currently offering the Nighthawk M6 Router from just £14 per month for the first three months (then £22 per month).

The Nighthawk M6 is Netgear’s latest 5G mobile hotspot router, giving you fast and secure Wi-Fi connectivity wherever you are. It’s portable enough to be used on-the-go (e.g. in the car, on family holidays, business trips, and more), whilst also being powerful enough to be used in a fixed location (e.g. at home or in the office).

The most impressive thing about the Nighthawk M6 router is its focus on offering a first-class WiFi experience in such a portable device. It has support for the latest version of Wi-Fi 6 technology (802.11ax), allowing you to connect up to 32 devices to the internet at the same time. There’s also a 1Gbps Ethernet port for connecting wired devices, along with a USB-C port that offers wired tethering at speeds of up to 5Gbps.

If you’re using the Nighthawk M6 whilst you’re on-the-go, it can easily slip in to your bag or backpack. It measures just 10.5 x 10.5 x 2.15cm and has an impressive 5,040mAh battery. According to Netgear, this can give you up to 168 hours of use on standby.

Meanwhile, if you’re using the Nighthawk M6 in a fixed location, you can simply remove the battery and use it as a mains-powered device. This will put it in ‘home mode’, enhancing both the power and the range of your Wi-Fi network. When you’re using the Nighthawk M6 in ‘home mode’, the Wi-Fi network will cover a range of up to 1,000 sq ft (90 sq m).

For day-to-day management, the Nighthawk M6 Router has a 2.4-inch colour touchscreen display. This allows you to easily connect new devices to your network and to see how much data you’ve used on it.

At present, the Nighthawk M6 router is available on the following plans from O2:

  • I’ve said this before but my definition of PAYG is that not using a service should incur no fee. That excludes deals with a minimum monthly fee.

I’m not saying that no contract rolling plans are bad, They are a good match for some. I just don’t like them being called PAYG. So I am at odds with Uswitch, O2, etc.

    • Hi Pete,
Thanks for your comment, and a great piece of feedback! I do agree with you somewhat, though I do think there are still some important benefits of ‘monthly Pay As You Go bundles’, versus normal SIM-only plans.
For me, the key distinction is whether you’re able to choose when and whether you buy a bundle each month. On a ‘Pay As You Go’ plan, you can always switch back to traditional Pay As You Go if you opt out of buying a bundle. This means you can keep your SIM card active without needing to pay a monthly fee. This could be handy, for instance, if you were going to be outside the UK and wanted to keep a SIM card active for receiving text messages, etc. You would only need to buy a bundle in the months where you know you actually want to use it. You also have the flexibility to leave a gap between your one-month bundles, to switch between different bundles as needed, etc. There’s also no credit check, which is a big deal, as the plan is open to everyone.
I do agree, however, that the line is becoming increasingly blurred with features like auto-renewal & the requirement to save your payment details before you can buy a plan. Consequently, it now feels more like you need to ‘opt out’ of buying a bundle, as opposed to ‘opting in’ to buy one like you before.
Having said that, the increased data consumption on modern smartphones does probably mean that buying a bundle makes more economic sense for the majority of people.

  • I think that I am correct in saying the O2 PAYG is 4G only.

Does that remain the case please, even if a customer is purchasing a “Big Bundle” ?
